BENEDE-DUIVENSHOKRIVIER 2021
Grapes were sourced from the incredible ward of Lower Duivenshokriver – situated between Riversdale, Vermaaklikheid and Heidelberg – within the Cape South Coast region. Limestone soils, cool mean ripening temperatures and only 10km from the ocean – creates a beautiful, mineral Chardonnay. The grapes were harvested in the 3rd week of Feb, whole bunch pressed and fermented naturally in partly new, 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels. No MLF. Bottled after 11 months in oak.
TASTING NOTES
A superbly elegant Chardonnay, layered with citrus and apple notes with a stealy minerality creating that perfect tension in the wine. Beautifully balanced natural acidity gives this wine ample longevity and punch. Delicate yet gravitas.
